How to Apply

Lutheran Foundation of St. Louis provides grant support to St. Louis area Christian churches and organizations who are working to improve the physical, mental, and spiritual health and wholeness of our community. We do that through two main grant programs: Regular Grants and Congregation Mini Grants.

Regular Grants
Lutheran Foundation awards Regular Grants to area Christian churches and nonprofit organizations. Grants range in size, depending on the size/scope of the project/ministry. Applicants must address one of the following six focus areas in their project/ministry. Click on the links below for additional information.

Regular Grant Applications may be submitted anytime during the year; however, applications will only be reviewed two times per year as noted below. The Foundation strongly encourages applicants to meet with staff prior to submission of a funding request to explore opportunities for funding. Lutheran Foundation's Board of Directors makes funding decisions on all applications.

Mini Grants

The Foundation recognizes that each congregation is at a different place when it comes to their social service outreach ministries. Some congregations want to “test drive” an idea before developing a full project/effort. Congregation Mini Grants are a special funding opportunity for Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod congregations to pilot an idea for a new social service outreach ministry. Grants can be up to $5,000. Applications are typicaly reviewed and acted upon within two weeks of receipt. CLICK HERE for more information.
